Colocation and Data Centers / Has anyone had a good experience with a dedicated hosting company??

Hello all,

Has anyone had a good experience with a dedicated hosting company that uses gentoo? I need to buy a dedicated server for a customer of mine, and I would like to use gentoo on it. I have a server with tek.net and they have been less than stellar as far as support goes. I have had 3 seperate day-long downtimes with them since September. These were all caused by "hardware".

I have also looked at seven networks, and they seem a bit pricey. Charging for extra ram every month seems dumb to me. I hope someone out there has found a good gentoo host. Keep in mind, I want a dedicated server, not web-hosting.

Dedicated Server & Managed Hosting / Anyone to share his/her experience and detail the hosting configs?

Hello everyone,

I'm facing probable performance issues using 1and1 shared hosting (mysql issues), so I'm currently evaluating the possibility to upgrade my hosting options (virtual server, dedicated server hosting.. nothing precise yet).

Who is hosting OC service in shared or dedicated 3rd-party commercial hosting? How good or bad is it? Anyone to share his/her experience and detail the hosting configs?

Please help.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) / can possibly compare the pros and cons. ??

Hello,

I run a dozen websites on a reseller account. I have thought of moving to a Virtual Private Server.  I know VPS allows  superuser-level access to the machine. I'd be happy to hear from people who have used both and can possibly compare the pros and cons.

General Web Hosting / Does such a web hosting company exist?

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a truly customer service friendly and reliable web hosting company whose support staff will deal with setup issues specifically?

We have to move our site to another web service provider and have already tried to do so to no avail. It seems there are certain cryptic and unfathomable adjustments which have to be made for the Joomla admin to work on the new server/web host. I have tried to use this forum to resolve those 'adjustments' to no avail.

I need a web host that speaks and can smooth over any and all transition problems.

Does such a web hosting company exist?
