My car is only about six years old but the headlights have gone all cloudy and yellowish which makes it look way older than it is, and honestly the light output at night has gotten noticeably worse. I've tried one of those DIY kits with the sanding pads and the wipe on coating and it looked great for about two months, then it went back to cloudy and maybe even slightly worse than before. A colleague mentioned there's Quick headlight restoration in ICAD that uses a proper UV coating instead of the cheap stuff, and it got me wondering whether professional restoration actually lasts or if I'd just be repeating the same cycle with a bigger bill. My questions are whether the cloudiness is only on the surface or if it goes deeper into the plastic, and how long a proper restoration typically lasts in this climate with all the sun. Also is replacement ever the smarter option, or is restoration always going to be cheaper and good enough? I'd rather spend once on something that lasts than keep doing this every few months.
