I've been working from home for the past year and my desk setup is fine except for the lighting, which is either too dim in the afternoon or weirdly harsh when I turn on the overhead. I know I need something better but every time I start researching I get lost in lumens and kelvin and end up closing the tab. A friend told me to learn more about efficient lighting after she sorted out her own place, and I think she mentioned a site based in Palo Alto but I can't remember the name. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that doesn't make me feel like I'm in a dentist's waiting room. Should I be looking at desk lamps, floor lamps, or changing the ceiling fixture entirely? And does the colour of the light really make that much difference or is that just something people say? I'd rather ask here than keep guessing and buying things I end up returning.

I've had my Wrangler for about two years now and it's always made a bit of a sewing machine sound at idle, but lately I've convinced myself it's louder and now I can't unhear it. The thing is, everyone tells me something different. One guy says all Pentastars tick and it's just the injectors, another says if it's the rocker arms you'll know because it gets worse when warm. I'm not mechanical enough to tell the difference and I don't want to pay for a strip down if it's nothing. A mate sent me a link and told me to click here to read up on the common issues before I panic, which was actually pretty useful, but I'd still like some real world opinions. At what point did you decide yours needed looking at? And did anyone here get it checked and find out it was nothing all along? I'd feel a lot better hearing that honestly.
