I've been working from home for the past year and my desk setup is fine except for the lighting, which is either too dim in the afternoon or weirdly harsh when I turn on the overhead. I know I need something better but every time I start researching I get lost in lumens and kelvin and end up closing the tab. A friend told me to learn more about efficient lighting (https://kitchenbathpaloalto.com/energy-efficient-lighting-options-for-modern-homes/) after she sorted out her own place, and I think she mentioned a site based in Palo Alto but I can't remember the name. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that doesn't make me feel like I'm in a dentist's waiting room. Should I be looking at desk lamps, floor lamps, or changing the ceiling fixture entirely? And does the colour of the light really make that much difference or is that just something people say? I'd rather ask here than keep guessing and buying things I end up returning.
