There are several different options for a web host. You’ll find shared hosting, dedicated server hosting, free web hosting, cloud hosting, cloud VPS hosting, and reseller hosting. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Those looking for the best for scalability and flexibility should definitely consider cloud VPS.

Once you’ve decided that Cloud VPS is right for you, you have to ask yourself which cloud VPS provider is right for you: Vultr vs DigitalOcean?  ::)

Free VPS hosting is a dream in 2019 as there are so many solutions available in the market. General Web Hosting / What is Free Website Hosting?
« on: March 29, 2019, 08:39:19 AM »
As the name suggests, free website hosting is a free non-paid web hosting service. There are many web hosts who provide subdomains to anyone who wants to make a website.

Some of such popular free web hosts include Blogger and Word press. When you make your websites with these free website hosting services, your website gets such name as yoursite.blogspot.com and yoursite.wordpress.com.

If you want to get a website with a domain name that doesn’t include any external site’s name, you must buy domain and then get web hosting which is usually a paid service. However, there are many web hosting companies that provide free web hosting with some or the other products/services that you buy from them.

Benefits of Free Website Hosting

There is this single biggest advantage of free website hosting and that is- it comes free without any cost. Now if you are amazed at why these free web hosting companies let you make a website free of cost then you may rest assured that they do not make any loss in this business.

When you make your free website with them, they use your websites to place advertisements, banners and other forms of advertising media to earn revenue.

Sometimes, the revenue from advertisement is shared with the owner of the website and sometimes it’s not. For example, when you get free web hosting from blogger and if you use their AdSense service, you get a share in the revenue generated from the advertisements that they place on your websites.

On the other hand, when you make a free website using wordpress, you do not have any control on the placement or revenue generated from your free hosted website.

The situation is altogether different when you get website hosted through paid web hosting service.
You have full control over your website and it’s your decision whether you want to place advertisements on your site or not and if yes then the whole of the revenue generated from the website advertisement banners come to you only. There are many other differences between free and paid web hosting services.

Differences between Free and Paid Web Hosting

Here are some major differences between free and paid website hosting services. It will give you a better understanding about what is free web hosting service and whether it’s worth to opt for such free hosting for websites?
Advertisements on your website are controlled by the web hosting company that provides you with the free web hosting. It can use pop-ups, banners or any other advertisement on your site on which you do not have control.

If also you have partial control, you may only decide what size of banner would be displayed where on your site. You won’t have control over what advertisement you will show on the website. On the contrary, when you avail paid web hosting, you have full control over your website and no outsider can decide anything for it.

Customer support is missing for free website hosting. Something which comes free cannot be asked to come with value added services.

If something goes wrong with your website, there’s no customer support for websites made with free hosting. On the other hand, paid web hosting services not only give technical support to the customers but they also provide them with help guides, tutorials etc.

Low bandwidth and lesser data transfer capacity makes free website hosting vulnerable to greater downtime whereas paid website hosting gives you optimum bandwidth and data transfer for maximum uptime. You also can’t upload more images or videos when using free web hosting service as you don’t get enough disk space.

General Web Hosting / Web Hosting Affiliate Program Suggested $150
« on: January 22, 2019, 10:20:01 AM »
I currently run a hosting company that specializes in hosting for small businesses. My company is unique in that I provide personalized support for each client and offer them a variety of options to meet their needs.

These range from invoice-based billing for those who are not comfortable paying online to offering customized e-commerce hosting packages with SSL certificates and ultra-fast SSD drive for their new web store.

I am currently considering using an affiliate program to grow my business. My question to you is what option would most appeal to you in using my company as the host for the websites you develop:

Option #1: One time 100% commission (depending on package) for each new client that remains a customer for 3 months
Option #2: Flat rate $50 commission for each new client that remains a customer for 3 months
Option #3: 25% monthly commission for all accounts that you refer

Unlike most affiliate programs, I will pay out monthly to all accounts, no minimum amount required, meaning that you actually get paid!
Would you actually sign up for any of these affiliate programs if they were available? Which one looks best to you?

Here are the hosting rates I am looking at:

Local package: 1000MB Disk space, 1GB transfer, 5 MySQL & email accounts
Monthly Price: $2.49
Business Package: 10GB space, Unlimited transfer, unlimited mySQL & email
Monthly Price: $4.99
Premium Package: 50GB space, 15GB transfer, unlimited MySQL & email
Monthly: $9.99

Special Offer: Sign Up Here and Get $5 instant Affiliate Bonus on your dashboard.
I also have custom dedicated server packages with no setup costs.

Please give me your feedback.

General Web Hosting / Is WordPress Safe for Hosting Your Website?
« on: October 11, 2018, 12:12:42 PM »
I’m often asked whether WordPress is safe for hosting a website. It’s an interesting question but still valid, nonetheless. WordPress is a super-popular platform for web hosting but, at the same time, it’s well-known for its vulnerabilities and exploits. Therefore, savvy business owners and IT/security pros alike want to know whether introducing WordPress into their environments will create unnecessary security risks.

As you know there are lots of free web hosting and paid web hosting providers offer WordPress hosting for creating a beautiful website. so if you think really is WordPress safe or not?
Is WordPress Safe?
Looking at this from a high level, asking whether WordPress is safe is like asking whether Windows or macOS safe. Or, whether it’s safe driving a car or even living in a house?
WordPress is similar to most things in this world – it’s about as safe as you make it. I have found that most computer systems and software that have a bad reputation for security (Windows, Linux, you name it) are one of two things – sometimes both:
1) they’re poorly-implemented or
2) they’re not properly maintained and poorly-implemented. It's really that simple.

I do a lot of web vulnerability and penetration testing and WordPress systems are a significant part of this work. There’s a slew of web security-centric risks, but WordPress-based vulnerabilities are typically based on the usual suspects:

• little to no patching
• no compensating security controls
• lack of visibility to detect nefarious behavior
• non-existent vulnerability scanning and penetration testing (or doing it the wrong way)
• assuming someone else is taking care of web security (which can encompass all the above)

WordPress is used by a lot of non-IT/security savvy people. Many of these people don’t get security, nor do they want to, and arguably they really shouldn’t need to. Still, this translates into not knowing what it takes to maintain a secure computing environment and, thus, lack of oversight, maintenance, and exploits.

WordPress is certainly a target given its popularity but, like most things with security, the problem usually comes with hair on top: the people side of the equation. I hosted my web server on Windows/Apache for years and just recently moved over to WordPress Hosting myself and it’s a solid platform.
It has the occasional new vulnerability that my web vulnerability scanners uncover but, if I keep it up to date, it’s never anything big. Furthermore, WordPress has granular security controls that can be made enterprise-worthy with plug-ins such as WP Security Audit Log.

All of this begs the question: is WordPress security up to the vendor or the user? It’s both. The folks at WordPress seem to be holding up their end of things. It’s the user’s/owners of the systems who are having trouble keeping up like the struggles we’ve witnessed over the years with locking down Windows-based network environments.

Regardless of what web platform you use, you must make sure that it’s not only properly implemented but also being properly maintained – including being tested for security flaws on a periodic and consistent basis. Maybe I'm naïve, but I think WordPress is just fine.

From the casual user to small business owner to enterprise marketing websites and application front-ends, you’ll get out of WordPress security exactly what you put into it. It’s a two-way street.
